FITNESS TRAINING

Fitness Services – Our programs are built around the use of compound movements under different modalities and changing time requirements.  These programs are scaled to safely support current, existent fitness levels.  Posture, form and movement will take priority over time, speed and load.  Our services are listed below:

  • Fat Loss – Let’s cut to the heart of the matter, nobody likes belly fat or flab of any kind.  Our consultation regarding fat loss is included with our training sessions, no extra fee.  Why?  Because calculating calories is time intensive and has been proven not to work – so we don’t do it.  Exercise has also been proven ineffective in losing fat – so we don’t do that either.  We are encouraged by the studies supporting Intermittent Fasting because excess fat is driven by hormones, chiefly insulin and cortisol (see The Obesity Code by Dr. Jason Fung).  There are innumerable, reliable online resources documenting the benefits of intermittent fasting, if you are struggling to find answers for your own weight management, take some time to decide if this might be for you.
  • Joga – Developed by Toronto fitness pro, Jana Webb,  Joga came about as a response to help athletes stretch and strengthen their limbs without loosening them up too much.  Y’see, athletes depend on explosive power in order to perform at their best.  Holding traditional yoga positions for lengthy periods of time can stretch an athlete out but in a way that robs them of their power.  To an extent, athletes have to remain somewhat tight.  Strength and Conditioning coaches from all over North America seem to agree as Joga has been picked-up by pro-teams in the CFL, NFL, MLB, NHL and NBA.
  • High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) – reintroduced to the fitness world by the Cross-Fit revolution, HIIT will have you doing constantly varying functional movements across a broad range of time and modal domains.   Heart rate will go way high and then be brought back down for short rests in a repeated and ongoing basis.  It’ll keep you mobile, strong and provide cardio-vascular endurance.
  • Body Weight Resistance – the anywhere workout that can have you second guessing what you thought you knew about your fitness in a hurry.  We’ll equip you with a litany of body weight resistance drills that can be taken anywhere , require no equipment and are often times a traveler’s best friend.
  • Plyometrics – also known as Jump Training, this is for any athlete wanting to develop strength, speed and explosivity to improve their vertical leap or speed right off the hop.  Ideal for volleyball, basketball, football, hockey, soccer and track and field.
  • Olympic Weightlifting – known for producing incredible strength gains, Olympic Weightlifters are also credited for producing the highest vertical leap on average of any sport.  An intensely efficient use of time, OW dramatically improves posture, mobility, strength and explosive power.  Complimentary to just about every sport, this very technical workout is streamlined to the capabilities of every client.  Yes, it’s a beautiful fit for athletes but also fantastic for busy executives who are sitting and inactive for extensive periods of time.
